Cookham Community Bay (CCB) - Frequently Asked Questions

 Phone: - 07786 272 136

How long do you list my item for sale on eBay?

Typically, CCB uses a 7-day auction to maximize bidding interest. We are, however, able to do auctions as short as 1 day for items with time constraints (i.e. tickets for sporting events, concerts etc.)

What if my item doesn't sell during the auction period?

If your item doesn't sell you do not incur any charge (CCB pick up the cost). You will be notified via email and you can pick it up within 10 days of auction close, or we'll donate your item to charity.

Can I set a minimum selling price for my eBay auction?

Yes. CCB sellers are able to set an opening bid of £9.99 or higher. However, while minimum opening bids above £9.99 do provide a "safety net" for which an item must sell, they can limit bidding activity and can even result in "no sale"!.

When can I expect to receive my cheque?

Typically, you will receive a cheque approximately 30 days from the date you dropped off your item. Please note that winning bidders who delay in paying for your item will cause delays in our timing for sending out your cheque. In addition, occasionally a winning bidder may never pay for your item. In this unlikely event, we will cancel the original auction and re-list your item for free. Your check amount and payment timing will be based on the results of this new auction.

How does CCB earn its commission?

Like a retailer, CCB makes a commission on the items we sell. This fee is used to cover the costs of photography, preparation of the listing, payment collection, customer service and packing + delivery. Once the item sells, CCB deducts both its commission and eBay and payment processing fees before sending you a cheque. See pricing schedule for further details.

What about selling very large items (e.g. a piano)?

If you have any item that exceeds 130 inches/52cms in total length/breadth or circumference, or more than 150lbs/68kgs in weight, CCB would be pleased to visit your home, take photos and list the item for you. In most instances, we would ask any buyer to collect the item.
